Foundations for Oily Skin

Foundations for Oily Skin

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, according to the famous saying. But when it comes to makeup application it doesn’t work that way.

A lot of women face a big challenge when it comes to choosing the right makeup foundation for their oily skin and how to apply it properly. Well, of course the only way to find out is to try a lot of variations and then pick the best one that suits your needs. But it takes a lot of time and effort to find that perfect makeup to give you a shine free and flawless look, right? Getting the wrong one will give you a not-so-desirable finish and may harm your skin as well.

People with oily skin find it hard to preserve their makeup for a long time. With the wrong choice of foundation it tends to form patches and gets darker as the day goes on.

A makeup guide for people with oily skin:

Foundation can actually prevent oily-looking skin. In addition to hiding skin imperfections such as scars, freckles and acne, it can also give you an even tone while concealing the flaws.

  • Choose a foundation that suits your skin type. Remember, don’t compromise your own result just because someone else looks good in a particular brand of foundation.
  • A full-coverage matte foundation is best for oily skin since it will last longer than those with light or medium coverage.
  • To avoid patches, apply a thin layer of foundation only. People with oily skin will experience a “caking” finish if a thick layer was applied.
  • For a more natural look, the best foundation for oily skin is always a shade lighter than your skin tone, because the skin’s oil will make the foundation darker, as I have mentioned earlier.

What to look for:

  • Look for a foundation that contains titanium dioxide, it will protect you from the sun naturally.
  • To help you minimize the appearance of large pores and help absorb oil, look for a makeup that contains serecite.
  • Take note that foundation for oily skin should have kaolin clay, it also helps with oil control.
  • Zinc oxide in makeup on the other hand is good for skin inflammation.

What not to do:

  • Avoid foundation for oily skin that contains pore-clogging ingredients (bismuth oxychloride and dimenthicone). These are often found in powder based foundations.
  • Do not use foundations with oil from petroleum.
  • Check the label and watch out for products with alcohol. This will make your skin oilier than ever.

These are some helpful tips to create an oil-free finish after applying your makeup. Remember, the result still depends on the product you use and the way you applying it on your face.

But if you don’t want to go wrong, I highly recommend an Airbrush Makeup Kit. It’s safe to use because it won’t clog your pores. Aside from that, airbrushing is so convenient that you can’t go wrong. And it the makeup lasts up to 12 long hours, so you will have oil-free skin from dusk ‘til dawn.
